Boca de Chorro, New Mexico 2017

It was dinner time, and I left. I left them to be with each other. The sun was no longer yanking the souls from the shadows, instead the soft caress had begun. I missed nothing. I was not missed.

In the end, I walked for hours. I finally had cowboy boots, so I no longer trailed the savage needles with my skin. The afternoon was long with a storm. Rap music sent periodic warnings of the other human within the hundreds of acres of no one. I was safe deep below in the Arroyo de Chorro when I found her. Withstanding, the past and promise of flash currents.
